The Sark. Part 1

 

- The Hunting of the Sark - 

One of the new areas I am looking to explore is creating some physical pieces connected with the Lost Toy Room and in particular bringing some of the Toys into the real world, drawing from Toys I have previously created and new ones as yet unseen. Each Toy wil become a new series, allowing me to create physical and digital images and revise or expand on the stories and background i have written for them.

The Toy portraits have been digital creations, a blend of photographed toys and other props brought together on my iphone.

For my first assemblage sculpture I have selected Sark , and begun work on his tea service. 

The cup is worn and stained, repairs have been made with paper and cracks stiched with odd threads. From the end of many threads he has tied small notes, attempts by Sark to remember how the children had their tea. One reads ' 1 Jam' and another ' 2 spoons', his memory is a patchwork.

For these pieces, all materials used will be vintage, from the old book pages to the thread that was passed down from my mother from her grandmother
